The show “Hoi An memories”

Take a walk on the memory lane with “Hoi An memories” show, an outdoor visual arts performance, you will experience impressive stories the rich history, culture and identity of Hoi An even though you are Vietnamese or foreigner.

“Hoi An memories” shows us the historical establishment and development of Hoi An since the ancient time which possesses Chinese, Japanese and French architecture style throughout the city and all well blends with diverse local food. For visitors who love to learn about the history of Hoi An and explore every corner of this little charming ancient town, “Hoi An memories” show will be the ideal choice to notice the story of Hoi An hundreds years ago.

“Hoi An memories” show is participated of over 500 dancers and actors, various props, captivating stage effects, eye-catching choreography, modern sound and lighting, all in one a 25,000 square meters stage with the background of mountains and rivers, creating an appealing and poetic Hoi An by night.

There are 5 parts of this show:

Part 1: The life – Hoi An’s memories of the dawn of time which show centers around the formation of this famous locality where people cut wood to build houses, plant rice, catch fish, sift sand and trade products. The images of Hoi An women and mothers are crafted beautifully enough to touch the viewer’s hearts.

Part 2: The Wedding – Memory of Hoi An during the Champa period which tells the wedding of Huyen Tran princess and Champa King to strengthen their bilateral relations.

Part 3: The Ships and Sea stage which reminds us of the busy port town of Hoi An in 16-17 centuries, which was always packed with vessels, sailors, and merchants who came, traded and left, despite many of them falling in love with locals. The scene of Hoi An women carrying lanterns and walking in windstorms alone highlights their courage to bear the hardships in life and become the spiritual support for their husbands and lovers.

Part 4: The Shore – Memory of Hoi An of multilateral cultural interference. This is the period when Hoi An became one of the prosperous trading ports in the South-east Asia when there were many ships from China, Japan, the UK and others.

Part 5: The Ao dai – the combination of ancient “Hoi An’s memories” with modern life. The jubilant, beautiful ladies made their appearance again to brighten up the stage. The girls riding their bicycles on the timeline signify our life keeping on moving forward. The sounds of the four seasons: spring, summer, autumn and winter, the sound of breathing and the stepping sounds are mixed together, while on the stage, the houses are constructed one after another to imply Hoi An’s steady development, but Hoi An residents who live in these houses, will tirelessly their traditional cultural values.
