Dubbed the “mini Sapa” of Quang Ninh province, Binh Lieu has a wild and majestic charm that attracts tourists.

Sharing the border with China, Binh Lieu has many border landmarks, the most famous of which are 4 border landmarks: 1300, 1302, 1305, 1327. Among of them, the journey to conquer border landmark No. 1305 is the most attractive because visitors have to cross the trail between the peaks often called “dinosaur spine”. That is also a different Binh Lieu image almost all people have known about Binh Lieu where is a place of white reeds running along the border road, or the golden terraced fields when the rice season is ripe.
Unlike other Northwest backpacking routes, the road to Binh Lieu is not too difficult. However, the “back of dinosaur” is still considered a destination that is not easy for everyone to conquer.
Conquering the “dinosaur spine” was an unforgettable experience that we, ourselves, spent 1 day. The road to “dinosaur back” is about 30 km from Binh Lieu town, leading to milestone 1305, the highest milestone on the border road. The path has about 2000 steps. To overcome the challenge of conquering, it takes 3 hours of visitors for both of going up and down.
However, in return to our hardships are the amazing moments of admiring the vast natural scenery. The view from here, it is easy to “zoom out” Binh Lieu into your sight, feel the picturesque features, the stunning terraced fields like a fairyland, the winding and difficult roads, sometimes hidden and sometimes visible, running straight into clouds, rolling mountain waves, deep blue to the horizon.
By a dreamy wanderer’s soul, visiting Binh Lieu anytime of the year is also wonderful and impressive. If it’s spring, visitors will be immersed in the green paths of grass and trees. If in summer, golden terraced fields are as sweet as carpets. In autumn and winter, there are vast white fields of reed grass, amazing and dreamy like a fairyland.
To reach a perfect trip, prepare yourself enough water, some snacks, a hat, a rain coat (in a rainy day), and pay attention to using specialized shoes for trekking and climbing. Moreover, the indispensable thing is to get a good health to successfully conquer the highest milestone.
Besides, local foods in Binh Lieu town are so delicious even though there are not many restaurants but we can refer to Thanh Mai restaurants, Dong Hoa restaurants…and the unique foods are Tien Yen chicken, gat gu cakes, black musk ducks…
