Steamed rice cake – a signature food in Autumn

These days, Hanoi has isolated for whole 2 months when autumn comes. Therefore, we only stay at home and cook by ourselves, however I still have missed some special foods of Autumn such as hot pot, snail noodle, hot steamed rice cake and so on. About hot steamed rice cake, it is a signature food of Hanoi in autumn, in fact, this is very simple to cook but which has its own taste, especially eating in cool weather. In additional, the steamed rice cake of Hanoi is different to other provinces.

Bun dau mam tom (fried tofu, shrimp paste, and noodles) is one of signature foods in Hanoi. Any visitors must try this dish when coming to our capital, we could find it at the hold of the wall to sell this one every streets, or also vendors sit a corner of any roads.

My breakfast with Cao Bang’s foods

Cao Bang is a Northern province with many fantastic places as Ban Gioc waterfall, Pac Po cave, Lenin stream.. Besides that, there are a lot of delicious food in this one.

Vietnamese Tet holiday

Each time spring comes, we are happy to celebrate 🎉 Tet holiday, normally it happens in the end of January or February according to the lunar calendar.

Although this year is a special case cause Corona virus, we still try to prepare some unique things in our holiday as flowers, sticky rice cake, fried spring rolls, and also buy something news to replace old ones. Tet holiday is also the occasion to express the respect and gratitude to our parents, our grandparents.

The traditional Tet festival lasts for three days. It is considered a time to begin new stuff, to discard the problems of the past year and start all over. People buy new clothes and often change jobs or switch careers. During the last week of the old year, they sweep away all the bad things that have accumulated in the previous 12 months with a thorough cleaning of their homes and gardens, especially including altars that honor gods and ancestors.

This festival is our biggest vacation yearly, we have 5-7 days to celebrate it with all members in our family and including our relatives, our friends, certainly all companies and restaurants, coffee shops close to allow their staffs go back their hometown.

One day, my friend talked with me about reading book, she mentioned that reading book is not useful,

There are many different opinions about reading book, especially nowadays Vietnamese people rarely read books.

Many people think reading book is not useful and waste time, they’d love using their free-time for playing games, watching films and some people concern that book is mainly theory not actual life.

As for me, I’ve gotten the totally different view about this issue.

Traffic jam whenever it is rainy in Hanoi

Traffic jam

Hanoi, when rainy comes, all streets are traffic jam at the rush hour. As your seeing my shot here, each person, each group rides motorcycles, rides cars to follow each other. I must take 2 hours from my office to my apartment though only 10 km, that’s a frequent issue whenever it is rainy.
